Yahoo acquired Bread because they wanted our technology expertise. Yahoo bought two advertising startups in 2013 - Bread and Admovate - with the goal of accelerating the development of Yahoo’s new programmatic advertising platform. As a Yahoo Product Manager, I’m responsible for launching the new self-serve advertising platform globally. I coordinate teams across product, engineering, operations, sales, marketing, legal, and finance. I also get to keep working with the Bread engineers and designers who are all doing great.
My favorite part of being at Yahoo has been watching Marissa Mayer execute and lead the massive organization. Every Friday, she hosts an all hands meeting and it’s almost like a talk show where Marissa stands up in front of the whole company and anyone can ask her any question. In the past year, I’ve learned a lot about transparency, setting better goals, pushing a regular quarterly cadence, performance reviews and just overall operations of a technology company. I feel much more polished and experienced now than when I was first starting Bread.
